Improbable Recovery is Possible

It's been awhile, but JM has still been working hard and continues to make gains and inspire me with his never give up attitude. Our family has been crazy busy with Ryan and Trippe's beautiful wedding in March and Ben graduating from high school in May. It has been a whirlwind, but so much good to celebrate. Now that things are back to "normal", it's time to get back to the grind with therapies for John Michael.

We spent this past week at the NeuroSolution Center of Atlanta. I stole the title for this post from their website because it truly does describe John Michael's attitude and the philosophy of these doctors. As I have posted before, we have worked with Dr. Kyle Daigle out of Louisiana for a few years now. His main office is in St. Charles Louisiana but last year he opened a new clinic in Atlanta with Dr. Ryan Cedermark. We had an amazing week with Dr. Cedermark! While we missed seeing Kyle in person, he faced timed with us and was working closely with Ryan throughout the week to come up with the best protocols for John Michael. We are so excited to begin implementing everything into his current therapies at home. Shannon, his speech therapist, even flew up for the day to learn and collaborate with Ryan to better help get John Michael’s voice louder.

Some of the protocols we were familiar with, but there are many new ones as well. We do so much with John Michael so the plan is to focus on stimulating the brain stem as well as the vagus nerve using the laser, vibration and electrical stim. Just like most that work with John Michael, Ryan was blown away by the progress he has already made and hopeful and encouraging that the parts are all there, we just need to find a way to make it all click.

We are so grateful that we can continue to bring John Michael to places like NeuroSolution Atlanta and for people like Ryan Cedermark and Kyle Daigle who continually think out of the box and have a true heart of gold to help others.

It was so much fun being in Atlanta. We even got to spend time with family and my bonus daughter Molly.

Prayer Request:

  • the new protocols would bring new gains!

  • louder, stronger voice

  • Functional, sustainable movements

  • Peace and patience

Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many. 2 Corinthians 1:9-11 Thank you for your continued prayers!! Love to all, Vickie
