I apologize that it has been awhile since I have written an update. Life has been crazy with family and friend's weddings and showers, trips, concerts, lacrosse season and college tours for Ben - the days seem to fly by. So here we are quickly approaching the end of June and are currently down in Boca at Premier Therapy Solutions for the week. The picture posted is from his birthday in March - of course not just any birthday but his 24th birthday! Praying this year will bring him much joy and success.
This year started with a full slate of concerts - Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen & Hardy, Kenny Chesney and Eric Church - yes we love country music. We went to several Magic basketball games and John Michael went to most all of Ben's lacrosse games. So between all of that and his regular therapy schedule we have been busy.
We've trialed and are trying several new devices and continue to research any and everything that will help make this click for John Michael. He continues to work so hard and push himself every day. I honestly don't know how he does it. His speech is probably the area where we continue to see the most gains. It is still a lot of lip reading but it keeps improving all the time. As I said, we are in Boca for the week for more intense therapy. It's always a nice change of pace and scenery. It is also encouraging because they only see him a few times a year, so that can see progress that I might take for granted because I see him every day.
I have tried to sit down and write many posts over the last year, but there's honestly just not a whole lot to write about. We still have great hope and faith that it is coming for John Michael and have learned to truly rest and accept that it is in His timing. Everyone's continued prayers and words of encouragement are always so appreciated and needed. Some days are tougher than others, but we chose to face those days with faith and not fear or doubt. We serve a big and mighty God and nothing is too hard for Him - or impossible!
Also - we are looking for a few caregivers that can be trained to be substitutes if anyone knows of someone, please message me.
Prayer Request:
- stronger breathe support and coordination for speaking louder
- that all movements would become sustainable, consistent and functional
- for God to bring the right caregivers
- peace and patience!
"For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37
“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matt 19:26
"The Lord your God is in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Zeph 3:17
Love to all,
Vickie

John Michael looks wonderful! He doesn't know my family, but he is often in our thoughts, and we always stop to send love and prayers his way. JM is magnificent!
